Hello everyone !
Welcome to MENA Market Lab !
We aim here to bring you regular updates on factors and events impacting financial markets in the Middle East and North Africa region with an accent on foreign exchange and rates.
We also aim to bring reflections on certain topics and subjects, close to recent events, which we think are worth stopping on .
Thank you for your attention !
While we are still waiting for Iran's retaliation measures against Israel after the very targeted assassination of Hamas political leader Mr Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas named the leader of the military wing of Hamas Mr Yahya Sinwar as its new leader. As we all know, Mr Sinwar is holed up under Gaza , supposedly , and is the architect of the October 7th attack. In comparison, Mr Haniyeh was more viewed now as a moderate and was on the negotiating team for a cease-fire.
So either the assassination backfired or this was the aim. Sabotage any kind of negotiation process claiming as for the past 50 years, they have no one to negotiate with.
And so the war can go on forever with its cortege of suffering , destruction and killing and Israel Prime Minister stays where he is , safe of any prosecution and accountability.
Thucydides is often cited those days : " the strong do as they want and the weak suffer what they must " !
